About MKSSS
The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, a 128-year-old parent body has been committed to, “Empowerment of Women Through Education” for over a century. The Samstha works relentlessly towards educating the women and thereby making them self-reliant. It was established in 1896 by the great visionary and social worker Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve to provide shelter to destitute women. He founded the first women’s university (now known as Srimati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women’s University) in India. The Samstha runs 75 units with 14 higher education institutes giving education to 32,000 + girl students in various branches. It has maintained the standard of quality of education with a transparent administration.

The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha`s Smt. Bakul Tambat Institute of Nursing Education started on the campus of the Samstha in Pune in August 2000. The institute is committed to developing “Conscientious, Confident, and Caring quality professionals of international repute”. The Institute is approved by the Indian Nursing Council, Delhi, Maharashtra Nursing Council, Mumbai, Maharashtra State Board of Nursing and Paramedical Education (MSBNPE), Mumbai, and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The Institute is also accredited with NAAC ‘A’ Grade. The institute has around 600 girl students pursuing various courses ie. ANM, GNM, B. B.Sc. Nursing, P.B.B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing. Clinical learning is conducted in the parent hospitals i.e. Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Mai Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune.

The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, our parent body, has been committed to “Empowerment of women through education”. The Samstha was founded by the great visionary and social worker, Bharat Ratna Dhondov Keshav Karve in 1896. He founded India’s first women’s university (now known as Srimathi Nathibai Damodar Thackersey [SNDT] Women’s University) and made major contributions to the cause of women’s education. For his outstanding work, he received the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1958. The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha founded and nurtured by him has now grown in to a large tree running:

- Hostels for girl students and working women
